I got a huge load of this colourful fabric for $2 so I thought it would make fun projects. I don’t like the pink but I can handle it with the green. For myself I think I will make one without any pink in it.
I didn’t use stiffener, but I will get some for more bags. I will probably use them for food shopping.
For anyone new to making bags, here are a few things I find helpful.
Key holders are very useful. Sew some ribbon on the end of your bag or make some out of the fabric you are using for the bag.
PLEASE EXCUSE THE WATER MARKS ALL OVER MY IRONING BOARD COVER!
When choosing your dimensions take into account what you will be carrying. Think milk cartons, books, cereal boxes…
I make the end and the bottom panels the same size. In that case cut 6 of the end/base and 4 of the side panels. Half of each should be made of lining fabric and half of outside fabric.
When turning corners, leave a little gap at the end of your seam.
This will allow you to make a nice corner.
I recommend sewing on some pen holders and the zip pockets from this tutorial:http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=186910.0
