I just completed the process to become a legal, tax-collecting business entity, and so I thought I'd let those of you who want to know how it works, how it works:

I went to city hall (a slushy mess, but that's besides the point Smiley ) and went to room 601, the city clerk.  I filled out a form, and right then and there they stamp it, xerox it, notarize it, collect your $50 and send you on your way.  He even wished me good luck.

Then I came home and went to mass.gov/dor, and from there I signed up with WebFile for Business, which is the only way to get your tax collecting #, and from then on, pay what you owe them online.  They have good telephone customer service for any problems or questions.  And that was that!
