Hello to my fellow makers!

I'm Kelly... I'm in Toledo, and I'm a potter, gardener, teacher, mom of three teens, and hoarder of "potential craft projects" :grin

I have refurbished an empty building in the artisan village at the Toledo Botanical Garden, and opened it as a community studio called "Hands-On".  The doors have only been open for a month and we've had classes in nuno and needle felting, glass slumping and fusing, clay musical instruments and papermaking.

It's for adults, but I am also offering art merit badge workshops for older scouts. (I taught my own girl scouts how to solder, and we're meeting in june to batik and make fobots.) We have plans for printmaking classes, screenprinting and dye making.

These are mostly one-time workshops, though some go two or three sessions. I am looking for ideas, and for teachers, and for cool people who want to just come and hang out in the studio. I have open studio time (for a small donation to the botanical garden) where teachers and students can come in and make a mess, make art, make friends.

It's also a good meeting space for art groups. I have one local art challenge group who uses the space for their monthly meeting (again, for a small donation to the gardens) and last week I had the "Green Hat society" (retired girl scouts) in there making stoneware flasks!

You can see the space here: http://www.primalmommy.com/ just click "Hands On".

I'm looking forward to the craft challenges here! I hope to enter the June deadline one...

Let me know if you have ideas for crafts we're not yet offering (metalworking? mini-lathe? gourdcraft? basketry? leather?)  and especially,  suggestions for who might teach them!

Current offerings are here... http://www.toledogarden.org/content/education/handsonclasses.aspx
