When my kids were younger (around 15 years ago) my Grandfather made them sled ornaments for the Christmas tree. He put their names on the front of the sled and love Grandpa and Grandma on the backs. Each year these are the first ornaments the kids look for (now they are 17 and 20). Sadly, Grandpa passed away earlier this year. I decided to keep up with his tradition of making them for the "new" kids in the family. This year they are going out to our great-nieces and nephews. I used to make them only in red, but decided this year to try out a few different colors.

I really like these in the colors they would be so cool on a package as a name tag.

Wow!  Those are super cute!  I have to say, though, when I first looked at them I thought they were something totally different!  I had my computer pretty far away from me and I thought they were jelly fish!!  Somebody please look at them from a distance and tell me I'm not insane!  Super super cute, though!

It's a moat.  Filled with badgers.

omg, no i totally thought they were jellyfish, too!!!! cute either way Smiley My family actually does this, too! We had a whole set made by my grandmother but they were pretty badly mutilated over years of us kids fighting over who got to put them on the tree, haha so my sister made everyone a new one. Yours are super cute!!! Keep the tradition alive!  Cheesy

Thanks everyone  Grin

Christmas ornaments are a big deal in my family. When we put up the tree it takes us most of the day. Sometimes I spread it out over a couple days. It takes so long because we all have to oohh and aahh and tell the stories that go with each ornament.  I love traditions  Smiley

I absolutely love things like this I have many things for my tree that my Grandmother made for me some nicer than others but they all go on the tree. Your sleds are beautiful and so is your story, it is great that your kids have them to remember their Grandfather.

Aww, Grandpa was so sweet and so are you.
