Jack Skellington and some other stuff link to tutorial

So two years ago my mom and I came up with this great idea (thanks to someone else's awesome Nightmare Before Christmas Halloween decorations) to make a "life-sized" Jack Skellington.  So last Halloween we bought a bunch of PVC piping and joints, fabric, a basket ball, and used an action figure I have as the scaled model.  After a lot of fabric paint pin stripes and a lot of frustration we have a giant Jack.  He is 9ft tall if he stood up straight and is the most difficult Halloween/Christmas decoration ever.  At least he looks awesome.  After years of lurking on Craftsters I finally felt like I had something cool enough to post.

I finally did a tute.  I'm sorry it took like a year to do and some of you wanted to make one yourself.  I'm just a little irresponsible when it comes to getting things done.  I mean Jack is sitting naked and headless in my garage and it's almost Halloween.

This year I bought a boring inflatable ghost and gave him a face transplant to create a really big Oogie Boogie.  If you ever replace fabric on a inflatable yard thing make sure the fabric will hold air!  If it doesn't just buy clear fabric paint and paint the back of the fabric with a really thick coat.




Then I felt motivated enough to paint Zero's doggy crypt.


Now I just have to figure out what to do next year.  I am also working on a Sandy Claws outfit for Jack so he can be outside during Christmas.

***UPDATE***
Wow!  I am really happy with the response I have gotten from this project and to see people love my Jack as much as I love him.  I dressed him up for Christmas and was going to post sooner but making a bunch of presents distracted me from posting.  

As requested here is a close up of Jack's face taken while he is sleeping in garage waiting for to go back into his little box.



And here is some pictures of Sandy Claws in the yard for Christmas.  Hopefully next year I can make/paint a scene that looks like Christmas Town.

Thanks guys!  I am so happy that so many people think it is cool and not insane. 

I am not so worried about it being stolen because it would be really hard to take it in one piece (I am still working out stability issues.).

If everything works out I will probably have Sandy Claws done in a week (hopefully) so I will post that when I am done.
