Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Pastel Portrait

I did this commission a couple weeks ago. I'm pretty proud of it. I took maybe 2 days. The person that commissioned me is going to give it as a Christmas present (don't worry, the recipient doesn't use the internet much from what I understand).

It's 12"x16" on Velour Paper.

i've never tried pastels before. Do you work in other mediums as well?
the image is so soft looking.

acidtrix, I for dry mediums I work in pastel, colored pencil, charcoal, and pencil. For painting I usually work in oils and acrylics. With the dry mediums, I try not to favor one over the other but I really like working in pastels. They're just a torture to ship and hope that whomever commissioned it is going frame it correctly. The soft look is from the velour paper, it gives a nice soft look to the pastels. If I want to get tight detail in a very small space, I usually work in colored pencils.
