O.O me and the boy

Back story(motivation)...
The boy and I are living with my dad at the moment due to some unfortunate events, the top priority was my dads bad health, the underlying issue is we are in the process of house hunting, which has been put on hold... Of course all of my stuff is in storage and there is no way I could possibly find my tree. Instead of buying a Christmas tree which are majorly overpriced or buying a real tree (which is senseless in so many ways...I won't go into that) I made my own and it only cost 5 bucks!  Grin

On to pictures!
Materials used:

-3 bundles of pine garland 15 ft each
-1 yard spike with tacky greeting on front
-floral foam
- I already had the Christmas basket
Not pictured:
-glue gun
Step 1:

separate the yard spike from the greeting, which was surprisingly easy since it was stapled...

Step 2 & 3 (gets messy):

cut  2 of the bundles of garland into diffrent lengths (longer pieces for the bottom, shorter for the top)
after they are all cut, twist two pieces together, which are of similar length then bend the ends down so it looks like an l at the bottom
I would suggest doing the cutting somewhere it can be swept or vacced easily the little boogers are static charged so they stick to everything including unshaved legs!  Cheesy

Step 4:

Hot glue to the stake you need about 4 twisted branches one for each side, even the thin side of the stake... you need about 5 tiers

Here's an image of it with all the tiers glued

He still looks ugly!

Step 5:

take the third bundle of garland and wrap it in between the branches to cover the stake and form the top of the tree, then shape the tree to your liking...

Step 6:
Shove the stake in the floral foam and place in basket...and TA-DA your very own Christmas tree!

Enjoy and thanks for looking! I'd love to see others takes on this  Grin

Please excuse the mess we are still getting settled

I was walking around the dollar tree today thinking about how I might be able to make a Christmas tree with the stuff there. I had to stop myself multiple times from buying ornaments because we have no tree. Then I come home and get on Craftster and someone has posted how to make a tree. yay! It looks really great and I'll have to try it soon.

It is incredibly easy! and takes maybe an hour to do, if you wanted it a bit fuller it would take a bit more garland, plus it comes out round...I was kinda worried it was going to come out square. Please post it if you do make one I'd love to see how it comes out  Grin

That's really resourceful, and it looks great! I might try this. It's both dorm room friendly and student budget friendly. Cheesy
