I had really liked this pattern from Indygo Junction for a while and one day at the fabric store, there it was in the clearance bin! For $3! Yay!

I definitely knew I had to give it a try.
I quilt mostly, so of course, I had to make it quilted instead of just using wool or fleece like they did on the pattern.

a closer view of the front. It snaps closed, the buttons are just for show...

and the back:

I was pretty happy since I already had the fabric for it. It's been sitting in my stash for years, wondering what to become. I think it turned out pretty cute. I think I need to do a long sleeved one for winter though...

The quilted look is much classier than the fleece. You should make a trench-length one for winter. That would be amazing.

wow that fabric is AMAZING!! i just love the coat - there are so many swing coats in the shops atm but what with the credit crunch i thought i couldnt afford one  Sad

however now im totally attempting this one soon...thanks for the great inspiration and i cant wait to find a fabric as cool as that! x

I agree that this fabric is perfect. Great coat! Love the quilted look so much more than what the pattern shows.
