ok, i have a new obession. i'm not sure what they are called, but they are a cross between knitted slippers/socks/boots. i love them, and really want to make them. there are several different styles, but 2 i really like. here are some of each kind;

1st kind (more sockish);

2nd kind (more bootish);

for both of these, they look you could make them are a sock pattern, and just use thicker yarn, but i'm not sure how you would add the bottom part (like, the harder part). and i've never made socks before, so i'm not sure if i could just make my own pattern. or maybe there already is a pattern for these somewhere...thank you

http://cache.lionbrand.com/patterns/kwe-socks.html. You can add stripes or an intarsia design to this free pattern.  Also Vogueknitting.com has a pattern in the Fall 2008 magazine.
