my friend told me about this blanket.
it's basically 2 pieces of fleece, knotted together.
it took me 2 hours start to finish...and it was pretty much the easiest thing i've ever done.
seriously, the hardest part was picking coordinating fabrics.

voila, a blanket....

here's the pirate one!!
(i tried to take it without the kitty, but she loves it so much..)

I was thinking about making something like this for my niece and nephew for Christmas and when I saw yours I decided to give it a try.  I left the house at 7:00 to get the fabric, and by midnight I was done with both!
Hannah Montana for my niece Megan:

Spongebob for my nephew Jack:

Thank you for the inspiration Scorch!

Awesome!!!! I love it. I'll definitely be using this technique sometime soon. I wonder if it'll work on smaller things, like potholders.

We bought a bunch of fleece today for these blankets.

How far in did you cut to tie them together?

These were so freaking easy that I almost feel bad!  (I'm a quilter, so a finished blanket in 2 hours seems like cheating!  But the 5 year olds won't appreciate a real quilt as much as they'll love HM/Spongebob anyways.)  I trimmed down my two fabrics to the same size, cut out 4" squares at the corners, then made the tie cuts 1" wide and 4" long.

I just followed the directions listed here:  http://www.allkindsofbabystuff.com/no_sew_fleece_blankets.html

Just make sure that when you're tying the knots that you're not pulling too hard because it will make the fabric buckle!

Thanks. My daughter is going to give several of these out to friends for Christmas.  Great idea with the $2.99 a yard sale they had this weekend at JoAnn's.  Grin
