They both looks great!  What stitch did you use on the gold one?  Is it an extended single crochet?   Huh

They are super warm.  I don't wear any, but my husband and son have them in football colors and say they are almost too warm in Minnesota. 

both are done with a double crochet, worked in a round.  I love the pattern because it works up so fast.  And the things you can do with it are almost endless.  I have done the hat in light cotton for spring hats and different stitch patterns for different looks.  They are really nice with some fun fur worked in....
