So I've finally decided to venture into unknown territories: knitting a hat. Specifically the Mary Jane slouchy hat. I've got all the right needles [well, I'm doing it in magic loop, but it's working fine so far] and the greatest red wool.
I've done the ribbing+increase rounds, and now I'm stuck.
I just don't get the purse stitch.
So if someone would be so kind and please [please!] explain to a kinda-beginner-but-not-really knitter what am I supposed to do?
I know what YO means and how to purl2tog and even knit2tog TBL I just don't understand how to work them all out together [how am I supposed to YO?]
I hope you understand what I mean...
I'll try to figure it out on my own [I know I can do this!] but I would really appreciate it if someone could simplify it for me.
[This is my first post here ever... I'll post more when I finish this hat!]

As you have not provided the instructions provided by the original pattern, I would assume that it means YO and knit2tog/purl2tog. Just take it step by step. Do the yarn over. Then knit 2 together. It will all work out. I learned that the hard way -.-

I hope I helped a little bit? And kudos First Post!! Grin Grin

BTW I think I'm working on the other version of the hat. (The pithy hat?)

Well, after some trial and error [and reading through numerous posts here on Craftster], I've finally figured it out! I guess I was confused about the whole YO thingy, but I've got it sorted it out.
Thanks for the answer... Hopefully next time you hear from me, the hat will be on my head.
I would try the Pithy hat [what the hell is a pithy anyway?] but I'm still afraid of cables.  Tongue
Gonna keep on knitting...
