I have clear vanilla extract that I always use in my recipes where there is a chance that discolouration might occur.

But I have a question about the corn syrup. Did you use the light/white corn syrup or the regular darker variety?Huh? I have never used the corn syrup in my icing but recently read a recipe for it and after seeing your glossy icing, I definitely want to use it!

k8tbaby, I used the light corn syrup. I imagine the dark would really discolor the icing. Sorry I didn't get back to you about this sooner!

Thanks... after looking at the corn syrup I had, i definitely decided I had to use the light one. I just haven't had time to go to the store to get some. I have the cookies in the freezer waiting to be iced!
