I hope i'm posting this in the right place... it's not really a recipe...

This is the fruit turkey I made for Thanksgiving. Sadly it's not my original creation it's from the 2007 Family Fun magazine. But I thought i'd share since it was such a big hit with the family.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING ALL!!  Grin

eta. The kids helped a bit which accounts for the random piece of broccoli in the middle...

What a great idea!  Even if Thanksgiving is not as big a deal (and celebrated MUCH earlier) here in Canada, I may need to make one of these next year. Beautiful work  Grin

Poor Hunni must think i'm a idiot. I didn't realise Canada celebrated Thanksgiving (I live in a bubble). I've been saying all day that it was her first Thanksgiving. She must have been humouring me Tongue

It's adorable and I love it! I was wanting a centerpiece this year but never got the chance to make one.
How did you get the face to stay on the turkey?

I just love the fun when kids help! Although the cookie decorating was a little hard getting used to when they  painted red icing around the carnivorous dinosaur cookies' mouths, and dismembered the poor herbivorous dinosaur cookies complete with more red icing...("MOM! They're CARNIVORES!")

Looks like you got off pretty easy with the broccoli trim.

I'd kinda like to see this "fruit turkey" interpreted to look like a peacock...I'll bet that would go over well at other times of the year.

It didn't actually roll around. Maybe the capsicum feet were keeping it in place...i'm not really sure.  Tongue
But you could always slice a little off the bottom of the melon to make it flat so it didn't roll about.

Gobble Gobble! It's so cute, I'm going to steal your idea for Thanksgiving except I'm going to use a small pumpkin instead of honeydew. Thanks!
