I like to make stuff.

I'm laid off, so everyone is getting handmade gifts this year. I wanted to do some pre Christmas gifts for my Aunt to wear on the holidays. I made her a gingerbread house pin that she loved years ago, but thanks to beadizzygrl, I can make canes now! This was a really fun project and the total time was about 6 hours. It will go a lot faster if I make any more because the canes are made. A big thanks to KishCrafts and Porgie whose tiny food is such an inspiration!! Here are the finished pins:

Let's get started. First we make some canes that look like peppermint candy, save some of the left over pieces for candy canes.

Then we make a Christmas tree cane. First cut out your tree:

then stuff in the white. I cut out triangles to fit under the branches:

Then reduce and:

then some candied fruit canes:

Next we cut out the houses. These were run through the pasta machine on the thickest setting:

Then reduce the candy canes and use them around the framing. I formed the gingerbread men by hand, I think I'll make a mold for next time. His buttons are those tiny glass marbles:

Time to reduce the canes and start decorating!

Using white clay and liquid clay (thank you Dianeb) I made some icing. I used ultralight clay because I think it 'melts' nice.  I added some glass marbles for sprinkles:

As you can see, I decorated them all differently.

The End! Thank you to all of my mentors at Craftster.

There he was, painting the leaves on the trees with different designs. My only question was, why turn something so natural into something so man-made?

Thank you so much guys Smiley I'll survive, and yeah, it's allowing me to spend some time on working on my crafts, which I love so much Smiley
