One more vote for the way it is; I agree that the light pink allows your eyes to rest. I also like that it's a different shade than the pink prints; it adds another dimension to the quilt!

I think its perfect!

It's sorta like going to choose a sweater for someone... should I get the pink or the blue... um... duh... I dunno... whatever you choose is that they get! Smiley LOL

I think it looks great just the way it is.  In my opinion, if you took the solid pink out and used a patterned one, it would make the quilt way too busy and it wouldn't look as good as it does now.

I think that the pink is fine: you have so many wonderful prints that the solid color gives your eye a rest, and lets you appreciate all the nice textures of the other fabrics. Does that make sense? Also, I have noticed with my quilts, once they get sewn together, it all sort of pulls together and unifies. I think it looks great! The colors, fabrics and pattern are adorable!!
I think it looks good.  and like it was said.  once it is quilted the look of a quilt changes... it will mesh more into itself ... if that makes sense to anyone but me.

I agree with these. How great to have that solid in there!

I like the solid pink.  It really makes the apples/pears stand out!

I think the best thing I figured out about making quilts is that WE (the maker) is very critical....over critical at times.  It's nice to have someone else' opinion (my dh for instance...he has no clue about sewing etc...so he sees everything as a "whole") because they can see past all the little "nit-picky" things we obsess over!

It's a beautiful project and the baby is so lucky to receive it!

Thank you all for encouraging me to move forward with this quilt... after a couple days of soul searching, I decided that so many experienced crafters can't be wrong! Besides, I really do love this quilt, and I'm now quite sure that its my love for it that is making me second and third guess myself...

Nonetheless- I went ahead tonight and sewed those blocks together and now it is looking just gorgeous!!

So thank you all for your support, opinions and comments. I appreciate them all so much!

You're right:  It looks GORGEOUS!  I was the only naysayer about the pink, but I think it looks fabulous now that you've got it all sewn together!  Your baby cousin is going to love it!
