Hi!  This is my first post after lurking here all summer.  I made this purse for my daughters for when we go to Blackhawk hockey games.  They like to bring lots of stuff with them.  I made it out of a jersey that my son had out grown.
Stephblue's awesome tutorial was my guide. http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=243097.msg2683204#msg2683204

The red strap is the hem from the jersey. The shoulder patches form the sides of the purse. Stripes from the jersey were used for the loops on the D rings.

Here is an inside shot.  I used some of the stripes from the jersey to make one of the pockets inside.(It looks sloppy because of the zigzag stitch) The other large pocket is made from black lining.  I used a medium firmness fusible interfacing for the first time and loved it!

The remains!

UPDATE!!!
My daughter took it to a game and got it autographed by Eddie Olczyk (veteran Hawks player and currently an announcer)

oh this is such a good idea!  i have an old kids jersey that i bought at a garage sale, and i can't fit into it (without getting arrested) but i didn't have a clue as to what to do with it.  i had planned on turning it into a trashy tank top or something, but this idea is much, much better.  kudos!

This is such a great idea!! I wish I had a Cleveland Browns/Indians jersey to do this to. OK.... and better sewing skills!

This is awesome.  You thought of everything and really used the jersey.  My son will be outgrowing his Cleveland Browns Jersey soon, I don't think it will last much longer.  I may have to turn it into something for me!  Wink

OMG!  I love it!  I want it sooooooo badly!
Funny story ready?  On my second date with my boyfriend, we went to an AHL game(Peoria Rivermen vrs Rockford Icehogs) and we were rooting for Rivermen.  Well, every AHL team has a big brother team, and Rockford's was the Blackhawks!  My BF had insisted upon me wearing his Blackhawks jersey so as we were walking around holding hands, we got some funny looks!
i know its kind of irrelevant, but I thought you might enjoy that.

But seriously, I love this and want it so badly.
Do you still have the remains of the jersey?
