I made the mittens that Bella wears in the movie Twilight and I love how they turned out! I'm totally wearing them to the movie tomorrow night. First date night with my husband in six months and he's taking me to a theater filled with screaming 'tweens and teens....he must really love me.  Wink

Bella's Mittens
Pattern: My own!
Yarn: Plymouth Yarn Encore Worsted (double-stranded)
Needles: US 10 circular

Notes: I've never made a pattern before, and it was harder than I thought it would be. I'm fairly good at technical writing, but even I didn't realize the level of detail that needs to go into a small project like mittens.

The mittens are VERY long, 17 inches when finished. But since the gauge is bulky, they knit up pretty fast. The resulting fabric is warm enough for even the coldest Forks nights.  Cheesy Anyone who knows the basics of cables and magic loop could make these easily. I think now I'll make a pair for my sister for Christmas.

I don't know anything about Twilight, but those Mittens are AMAZING!!!  The cables are beautiful!

I love long mittens, so much nicer for playing in the snow.... Smiley

Thanks! I've never worn such long mittens before, but they are soooo toasty and warm. I forgot to add that there are more details on my blog if anyone is interested.

Beautiful! I love it. It's a very good job.
Twists are not easy to make and even more on mittens.

those mits are great!! that's awesome that you designed the pattern.  im a good way into a cable sweater, so im really impressed by the cable world now, especially when you designed the pattern yourself.  nice job!! they're cool looking! i mean WARM looking! Wink

These mittens are gorgeous. I definitely want to give this a shot once I'm a little more confident in my knitting skills. Cables scare me...

Those are beautiful!  They're not exactly like the cables on Bella's mittens, which to me looked more like the antler cable pattern in "Son of Stitch 'n' Bitch," but a wonderful interpretation nonetheless.

I recently got a friend addicted to knitting.  The look of madness and terror in her eyes as she whispered, "Maybe just one more round and then I'll stop . . ." will warm my twisted heart for weeks.

I am not good at the circulars, but I wonder if it can be done on straight needles and sew up the seam.
