Even though I nearly choked to death a few times on the smoke I love love love Raku! I'm taking ceramics II and until now I haven't really had anything I've thrown that is decent to show anyone at all (yeah the wheel is NOT as easy as it looks!) Monday night we did some Raku and I'm pretty pleased with how they turned out!

The one on the left is Ferguson Blue (yeah and it didn't come out blue at all!) and on the left is White Crackle (I've done white crackle before but my mom claimed it so these are all mine)

This one came out mostly copper colored but over night it changed to green...I was shocked how fast the color changed

Thanks for looking!!

OMG that makes 3 of us! I love ceramics class and house too! I know what you mean about the wheel, when I signed up for the course I thought "This is too easy!"but now I got real respect for people who can make a piece in less than an hour like my professor!

Very nice, love the colors and shapes! Smiley

Wheel throwing is definitely not as easy as it looks.  The trick is to not try too hard.  Once you relax, it will start getting much easier. Cheesy

Beautiful!!  I love doing ceramics too.  It's been too long since I had a proper class though.  I love the beautiful effects that you got with your Raku.  Nice job!!!

So true!! Once I learned not to try too hard and to just relax and go with it my stuff was turning out well! And by well I mean it didn't rip off during the first pull like EVERY piece I started for the first month or so...haha

Thanks again guys!!

Some of my pieces flew off the wheel when I added too much speed! BUt then again they weren't secured properly  Embarrassed
