Some months ago my mom bought a box of like 300 little matchboxes, when I saw them all ugly and yellow I decided to turn them into cute little mathcboxes. So I took a magazine, I picked some images, cut them and then pasted them on the matchbox. When I was done I used transparent nail polish to make it all shiny. I made a few but here are the pictures of the first one :

I love them and you can make them to give with some candles or stuff like that. Smiley

Very cute Wink  I hope the nail polish won't make the whole packaging more flammable though??

these are great! and you're right - what a cute idea to make and give with a candle gift! just about everything in my room is covered with magazine collages.

maybe instead of nail polish, you could use acrylic varnish (though i'm sure there's something better out there) it coats way better than nail polish. you can find it next to the cheap acrylic paints in any craft store or craft section of walmart, heh, for like, a buck.

acrylic varnish is just as flammable as nail polish if not more so.  I would use mod podge or a mixture of white glue and water if anything.  I think they would still be cool even if they weren't shiny.
