Wow! That's a lot of work.
It looks great.
Is the one for your husband going to be HP too?

Yeah it is!!  I did a HUGE quilting project this summer, and while I sat at my machine for hours, I listened to all of the HP books on CD.  If you have not, go to your local library and check one out.  The guy that does the reading is FAN-FREAKIN-TASTIC.  Anyways, he is a huge fan.  When we first started dating, I was kind of un-sure about him, cause he was the 29 year old standing in line at B&N waiting for Deathly Hollows.. Ha ha.  Now, we have a countdown for Half-Blood Prince.

Weasley is the king!!  I could NOT resist.  Harry and Ginni are the "bishops".  I did not put faces on them, partly because I ran out of time (spent my ENTIRE veteran's and a whole season of Buffy  making these fellas) and they had to be mailed out the next day, and because I am not so good at painting yet.

Cealy, thanks for the details! I may have to try that!  It's to be a secret project, so I might have to do it while away at my mom's for the weekend.... ha ha.

I'm old enough to be your granny and I love Harry Potter! But I don't stand in line for much of anything. I let Amazon deliver.  Wink

You can do the faces by just using a toothpick or similar and just poke a couple of little holes. Or dip in paint and just make little dots. For the nose just a little point of clay, maybe. I wouldn't try to do complicated faces on that style clay.

If you haven't done it already... Check out Diane B.'s website. She seems to have a ton of info on poly clay.

I like Cealy's info. I would like to add that Michael's and many craft stores carry small sheets of quality birch? plywood. Something around 3/8"+ thick should hold up well and not warp. You might have to find someone to cut into a square or use the extra edge space for decoration. Paint the edges or apply veneer.

If your hubby hears some of this tell him you have a commission or personal swap. Since you did such a wonderful job with this one, it will be easy to believe.

That is a fantastic project.  I was actually thinking of doing something similiar for my son before you posted Smiley  I haven't even attempted to start it yet though.  I really love how well you worked the clay.

For the board...
you could also cover some wood with a veneer of clay. Colors could be school colors.
