Are we doing partners or groups?  If we're doing partners, then I think two.  If it's groups, then say you're in a group of five and you send one to each person in your group.

IE:

Group 1: 5 people - everyone sends out 5 bookmarks and get 5 in return

Round Robin: 1-> 2-> 3-> 4-> 5->1 everyone sends out one or two bookmarks and get one or two in return
