The metal thingie is just glued on/in. I measured the mouth to fit in exactly. Then I put glue inside the thingie and on the fabric ends. Then I squeezed the fabric inside the thingie. I removed left over glue from the metal thingie and prevented the glue to stick on the fish (just luck in this case Wink, and a bit of felting-off the glue spots) To make sure the fabric attached to the metal, I pushed it inside using the tip of used scissors.

When making a bag with this metal thingie, be sure to use a thick fabric.

I have this supercute scale stich on my Pfaff-machine, so the scales were super easy, it just costs loads of time.
