Ok, here are the beasties that refuse to keep their heads on.  I hate them I truly do.  I worked for 3 hours on these guys and I am not happy with them at all!!

well they're cute Smiley
maybe if you stick a toothpick in the head and push it into the cupcake too, it would keep it up?
just warn the  future consumer about the stick.

I think they look great! I know what you mean about hating something your trying to create.....as I'm currently on break from Christmas gifts. lol

Did you use frosting only for the heads?

Thanks, but I am still mad at them.  I think I will try toothpicks next time.  These are for a bunch of 3 year olds so I'm afraid they might eat a stick.  Their heads are mini-cupcakes.  They're from the book Hello, Cupcake.  I used icing for the eyes, nose and tongues instead of the candy it calls for in the book and its a good thing cause if they had another nano-gram weight to the from of their heads there is no way they would stay on!

Ah.. here I am thinking my suggestion of a tooth pick will be brilliant.

I still think they are very cute. Also perhaps taking the wraper off the small cupcake first, it would give the icing something to grip to.. also then you coul eat them in one bite!

Also, I'm sure the three year olds will be thrilled with them

Wow, for a moment there I thought you had sculpted the whole top part from frosting and my eyes were watering thinking about how to eat it!!

But now I see they are mini cupcakes ... genius!!! Perhaps if you make larger base cupcakes next time? Or is the problem that the top one is too heavy ... not that the base if too light.

Still cool!

uncooked spaghetti works well as an anchor. it should hold the mini cup cake in place, but if you don't get it out of the cupcake before someone takes a bite, it should break when they bite it. this is what the instructor told us to do when we made the clowns in the wilton cake decorating class i took eons ago.

OMG that is an awesome idea!!!  I just got finished with some annoying turkey cupcakes I'll post tomorrow.  My DH almost DIED over these!  I worked on them at a friends house and he drove like a maniac all the way home and wouldn't you know it, the heads fell off again and completely messed them up!!
