This one is a disaster. A pretty one at that, though. I made it with serger and I had to serge the hood THREE TIMES before I got it right.. needless to say I now wish i had pinned/sewed/SOMETHING before trying to apply the hood via serger!! Now the shoulder seams are waaay too short. Well. Things can't always go as you plan... And the zipper is all wonky, too. Cheesy

I love the style of this shirt.

I'm no whiz at using my serger, but I've found that the differential feed setting can make a big difference when sewing material that has stretch to it.  Increase the differential when you sew on the sides that have the most stretch, and reduce it when you sew in the no-stretch direction.  I have to do a test sew on each type of fabric to see what the setting should be for each direction (across or with the grain of the fabric) but it really makes a difference for me.  My stuff was so wavy it looked like ruffles, but the differential setting can resolve that.

Ooh, I love the design and the colors. Despite the waviness, it still looks good.

well, since there is only waviness on the zipper (check that what you're sewing the zipper on, is straight.. Cheesy) it really doesn't bother me. AND looks kinda nice, actually. the fleece IS a non-stretch fabric, so the seams are good. the only thing i don't like this is the fact that i blew it when i was attaching the hood. i'm seriously thinking of cutting it off and adding some fabric there... but i think that might be way too much work - not worth the effort Cheesy

Wow I love this! Would you consider making another, my cousin loves green and this is perfect for her. I can pay, or trade, I have some nice fabric. I'm sure we can work something out if you wanna give it a try, let me know.

I like the seams in the back and front - looks flattering!  And the sleeves have a nice, atypical shape.  I love the stars, too!

Is this from a pattern?  I'd actually like to make this for myself, but with buttons or toggles (can't be too casual at work).  I wonder how this would work with contrasting colors for some of the pieces?

unfortunately there is no pattern for this, i just played around. hence the not-fitting-me-perfectly Wink i believe in contrast-colours, although it might be tricky with this one, because the number of the pieces is even, so it would be like the other half is one color and the other one's other. (hmm, what a sensible sentence)

Ah - well, thanks for the idea - it's the front and back seams that really drew me to the design, and I think I'd like to add those as "faux" seams to some of my current longer shirts/shirtcoats.

just as i woke up i realized that this would work perfect with contrast colors BECAUSE although there are even numbers of pattern peaces, there aren't just four. i'm so dumb. but the hood has only two pieces, so there i'd add one seam and make the hood from THREE pieces. the sleeves also have two pieces, so even the sleeves could be made with contrasting. hmm. maybe i should try that next time.
