Freezer paper is used to wrap meat to freeze. It is paper with a layer of plastic on one side. You can usually find it at places like Wal-Mart in the aluminum foil section.

I've tried this so many times but the bleach wets the fabic so much it bleeds under the stencil. I need to use to much as it doesn't bleach it enough if I don't. I tried it on a bright pink shirt and I could barely notice a difference! What am I doing wrong??

Great tutorial! I really want to try this.

Dumb question:  Freezer paper is different from wax paper, correct?

And for people looking for stencils, I'd suggest googling pumpkin patterns, there's some cool ones out there that aren't halloween-y!

Thanks so much for your advice!
I made a few attempts that bombed using this technique, due to oversaturating the fabric.  Thanks for the info, I'll definitely be giving this another shot!  Smiley

freezer paper?

Ok daft Brit question. Is it called by the same name in the UK? I looked in a few small supermarkets today and no joy.

Oh just googled and it seams to be a specialty thing in the UK
but I did find this , so will experiment.

"If you can get hold of the stuff they wrap copy paper for photocopiers in, it is pretty similar, and FREE! Try it and see.

If anyone is having trouble finding freezer paper. . . you can also use plastic transparency type paper or plastic stencil sheets that haven't been cut yet. To make it stick use spray adhesive and follow the directions to make it stick temporarily. The only hold back with this is that it is hard to do any stencils with little pieces. Thanks for all the feedback everyone! This is sooooo much fun. Also, come check out my blog, www.cantaloupecorner.blogspot.com
