Soap and water won't completely stop the bleach. There is a chemical that you can buy if you do this a lot that will stop the process, but I just use hydrogen peroxide. This stops the bleach completely and instantly so that you have less chance of it eating your fabric.

Awesome bleach tutorial! I tried to do a couple bleach t-shirts with my boyfriend, but they were an awful fail. We pretty much soaked the stencil trying to get the mix to bleach, and thus is bleached all over the t-shirt. Tongue

I have plans for a new shirt, though...

that came out remarkably crisp.

the one time i tried bleach stenciling, i ended up with a blob monster.
i must try freezer paper.

I wish I would have known this stencil tutorial a long time ago! Whenever I've attempted bleach stencilling, it always bled and got rid of my crisp lines. I will definitely keep this in mind!
