My boyfriend's sister just had her first baby in July, and of course, I couldn't resist the opportunity to make something cute for such a cute baby! I know someone else did one like this with bandanas, and they got the idea from Britney Spears having bought one like this for her baby, but I don't have the link anymore (thanks random person for the idea!)
They received it near the end of July, because I wasn't able to finish it before he was born, but it matches his room, which is jungle themed. I stitched on a little elephant and then also appliqued a square with his name (Cy Philip) embroidered on it in a corner. The bandanas were slightly uneven, but overall you don't notice it I think. I backed it with light blue fleece.
She loved it so much, she also made one for a friend of hers who had a baby not soon after!

*The name is chainstitched in light blue and then I re-chainstitched in black around it to really make it pop.

Cute!  I also have to often thank random people for ideas, as I almost never can find the bookmark when I get around to posting! Grin

Um, a couple of months, but I worked on and off. It probably would have only taken a week if I could have worked non-stop, and the part that really was most time consuming was the embroidery and applique (I hand stitched the elephant and nameplate on). Besides that, the blanket itself took very little time at all. Maybe a day or so of work, not counting washing and drying the bandanas (they shrink a lot, so it is important to do this, otherwise the first time you wash your blanket it will be very shriveled!) I also had to hand stitch the backing on because it was too thick for my machine.

Thanks for the heads up! I think I'll have to give these a try.
