I got the very bright idea that I should only handmake gifts (watch out, Christmas!) SO... I asked my mom what she'd like for her birthday (thinking she'd say, "Oh whatever you want to make!" in her typical easy-going way).  Was I ever surprised when she said she wanted a Vera Bradley bag!  I had no intention of actually buying VB fabrics (though they're lovely) so I interpreted her request to mean "quilted-looking."  No idea how to do that really either, but here's the result:

The semi-wonky inside:

All feedback welcome.  What I'd really like to know: does anyone have any ideas about a pattern/shape for the lining that allows this kind of center zip?   I totally winged it with some weird U shapes and it came out okay (if you don't look too close!), but I'd like to know how to do better.

Not bad for winging it. I've always wanted to do a divider in my bags, but have never attempted it. Yours looks nice - I even looked close. Not sure how to answer your question, I don't really see a problem.
