I always loved crocheting, but never attempted to make an amigurumi, and now that I am a soon to be Aunt I've been thing of things to craft for my soon to be born nephew.  Let me introduce to you Geraldo Chu Chu.  A sheepishly smiling monkey.

Staring out the window at the falling snow.

Geraldo and Hestia in a deep conversation about the art.

I basically used this pattern, only modifying the ears and adding a tail to create a monkey.  Yarn is a cotton, soft yet durable, since we all know kids are tough on their toys, and he is stuffed with natural cotton fiber I found at the fabric store I go to ( I never really liked the feel of poly-fil).

THIS is why I need to learn how to crochet!  Nice work, I'm sure your nephew will love it (Well, in like a year.  They don't really care about much at first  Cheesy )

If it had grown up, it would have made a dreadfully ugly child; but it makes rather a handsome pig, I think.

I practice alot.  I'm kind of anal when learning new techniques so I make a bunch of  samples before even attempting a pattern. Tongue  So with this project I made a bunch of crocheted balls, learning how to increase and decrease, using different yarns and hooks, then choose the best one and go.  Basically I now have a bunch of balls laying around, but good news my ferrets have a bunch of new toys to play with.
