I have crafting ADHD. Seriously.

Earlier in the summer I visited a chain department store where I found a tank top I just...really wanted.  Made from soft cotton, it was basically just a tube that was gathered in the front and back at the neckline (much like a pillowcase dresses for girls that are talked about so much here).  Well, I was back to that store again yesterday, and decided today that I just needed to make myself one.

Why?  Because it's simple as heck, easy, and fairly fast (started drafting at 10, got done at 2...with lots of interruptions, lunch, and seam finishes/niceties to the finished garment).  There are a couple of things I would've done differently:  I would've made the front of the garment an inch or two lower than the back (they are the same pattern piece right now), and I would've made the whole thing a couple of inches or so longer.  But, for a first try, I think it went pretty well.

Also, it's actually more of an olive than the brown it appears in the pictures.

And...here it is!:

Thanks for taking a look! Smiley

Looks good! That does look super simple. I feel sorry for all the people who bought it instead of just making it  Smiley

That is lovely, do they make pillow cases in Plus size?

I love the collar and the tie you made. It has a very finished look to it.

I bought one of those (It was my favorite shade of green and it was on sale and I had a gift card!) but I got home and made myself two more. I love the style!

Yours looks really good!

Great job!  I am the same way when I'm in a clothing store.  "$75!  Are you serious!  I can so make that".  If more women made their own clothes, we wouldn't let fancy designers dictate what we should wear.  You go, girl!

Thanks for the compliments, everybody.  Smiley

Didn't use a pillowcase!  Used a lovely cotton/spandex blend fabric and drafted my own pattern.  You could make one, too! Smiley

This is super cute!  I'm going to try it with a pillowcase I absolutely love, since I was searching for a good tank top to make with it!
