Hey

(i am not sure about the category, but then again,.. when am i really?)

Here's a project I've been working on for quite some time now. And it's finally ready for everyone to see. It's a gift for my fiance so I had to wait for his birthday to come to post it.  <3
It's called "huggable".
The tiles are made of clay, they are baked, hand carved, painted and varnished on. all 100 of them! phew.
the board is felt. the docks are thin wood things i stole from an old wardrobe someone threw away. i siliconed the pieces together. the pouch is an old skirt of mine. and the instruction sheet is written by me.

here's us playing huggable for the first time.

Very creative! (isn't it crazy how much time one "little" project we think of can take) I say this as I'm attempting to complete at least 5!

It seems that different people have an idea of what I am, and what I should be. And then there's me.

WOW.  I can't believe how much time you must have spent making all those tiles, but they look amazing!

That's fantastic!
I love scrabble but playing it on a huggable personalised board would make it soooo much better!

Ok, I am completely freaked out, I am currently in the process of making almost exactly the same thing! I have been making the tiles in my ceramics class - they have been underglazed and hopefully had their first firing this week, on monday I will be putting a second glaze on to highlight the carved letters.

found this picture on my camera that shows the process of creating the tiles (I have two extra blanks)

I am going to do a patchwork board

I guess great minds think alike eh?

they sure do

wow! that's amazing.  i am shocked. i searched everywhere to see if someone already made something like this. and it turns out someone is secretly making one Smiley
yours looks way too professional than mine though. loved the way you've cut the tiles.

well good luck!
i had no time for glazing so i simply varnished them. i bet yours would be great!
please do let me know when you're done.

Hi, I've finally got around to posting a pic of my finished set, I gave it to my sister for Christmas, she liked it but to be quite honest I don't think she could really appreciate just how long it all took! The board is patchworked and I made a fleece lined drawstring bag because the tiles are ceramic.
