Here's my peacock costume!

I made everything you see except the shirt, but I embellished and altered that a lot from it's original state. For the shirt I added tassels to each sleeve, scrunched the neckline, and made a blue satin and gold trim to line the sides. I made the skirt and the peacock feather trim around the bottom of it. The gloves are stretchy with blue satin trim and feathers lining the outside seam. The headpiece is made with plain black feathers and more peacock feathers. The backpiece is made of cardboard covered in green felt with peacock feathers layered all over. I also made a belt with feathers to add some more detail, and of course, my favorite part: the bird feet. I just cut them out from felt and sewed in velcro and stitched a seam so they'd stay creased. Ok, that was a lot. On to the pictures!

close up of headpiece/backpiece and makeup.

here you see the skirt layers, trim, and feet a little better.

EDIT: Tutorial available on my blog: http://neonrattail.blogspot.com/2011/10/diy-peacock-costume.html.

Thanks for looking!!

I.  Love.  This.

This costume is seriously awesome.  I haven't been able to find peacock feathers for very cheap.  If you don't mind me asking, how much were they and where did you get them?  You don't run a peacock farm, do you?   Grin

Thank you! I had a hard time finding the feathers at first because most crafts stores seem to only sell them in packs of 2 for $2  and i needed a lot, so that was way too expensive. I ended up buying them  online at www.discountschoolsupply.com and they were 24 to a pack for like $5. That was the best deal I could find. And no, I don't run a peacock farm, but that would have made this much easier!
