So my friend had a black bridesmaid dress that she wanted to use and also had a desire to be the queen of hearts.  We tried to make it sort of tim burtonish, but since we were sewing hearts on after the party had started it didn't quite make it.
The hat was made out of paper mache and a two decks of cards. We used this tutorial http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=117656.0 .  The flamingo was a lawn ornament from a friends yard.  The hat and the overskirt are what we made.

a friend showed up as a mad hatter

the awesome hat

The mention of trying to make this costume Tim Burton-ish makes me SOOOO anxious to see his version of the film Alice in Wonderland, can't wait till it comes out!!

That's positively adorable, and such a fun Halloween costume! I should add that to my list of things to be.  Cool

I adore the hat, the belt and the flamingo!  Grin
