Right, so here's the other half of my costume project for this year...I proposed making a skull/death mask for my man, and he asked that it be "bad @ss" so here was my attempt

i will say up front, we both love the death character from terry pratchett's discworld, thus many jokes were had. I realize the infamous death does not have horns, but it was fun nonetheless. We even had curry for dinner on halloween prior to going out.

we usually do couple-y type costumes in a sense....last year we did a wow warlock + succubus, the year before was pyramid head + silent hill nurse..etc..no raggedy anne and raggedy andy here!

i was a little stumped this year, as we're currently living in temporary living conditions, meaning my crafting area is non existent and our budget was a little small, so we came up with the idea of 'death' him being modern, and i being more ancient (i actually went as anubis, that costume is posted here:
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=276982.0 )

i'm still playing with photos, it was hard to capture (me being not a fantastic photographer to start with) in the dark (he disappeared) and in the light (his skull gleamed in the sun) so bear with me Smiley

death contemplating playing the guitar..

death's mask on it's own

going for a stroll in his neighborhood

here's one of us together in the dark

and some process pics, please feel free to ask for details! there's a bit of an explanation in my other thread, but i can post it over here as well

and a teaser of my costume, in case you haven't looked at mine yet!

The detail on this mask is amazing, I especially love the way the horns look where they connect to the skull, very realistic!!!  You have a great eye for the little details that make these masks so beautiful.

i am not sure if i even posted my pyramid head + nurse costume here... perhaps i should add some of my old costumes here for kicks..

here was pyramid head. we had a flayed corpse  zipper bag, for our wallets, keys, etc

and this was me
mask could have been better (i had full time classes that year heh, so it goes) and i didn't paint my skin for the pics..

then last year..i think the thread is still up but the pics are down, so i'll repost

i always feel bad about my lack of accuracy, if i'd actually start sooner than 3 weeks prior to halloween i might be able to stop compromising hehe

WOW, that is a sweet Pyramid Head! I had a failed attempt at that last year so my envy is extra deep  Cheesy.
I'm assuming you also made the Death mask horns out of the spray foam you talked about in the Anubis thread?

yes indeed! there is an inner bit of twisted wire for strength though, kind of bent into the shape i wanted with a smaller gauge wrapped around it so the foam has something to grip (just like making regular armature)

and thanks so much! i'm already stuck for ideas this year, it's a bummer!!
