Old tent-like boy turtleneck into cute cardigan!

I don't have a before picture, but my roomie/cousin was emptying his closet and had an oversized, ribbed turtleneck he was getting rid of.  It was seriously unflattering, but had good warmth potential, so I snagged it out of the pile and came up with this:



I cut off the turtle neck (I can't stand wearing turtle necks) took in the sides and the arms, and then cut the front open and added the buttons and ... well, whatever you'd call the strips of fabric that the buttons attach to.

Maybe the gaping opening in front destroys some of the warmth potential, but I like still like it.

very cute!  did you serge the sides or just leave it?

I just left it- the weave is tight enough that I think it'll be okay. I hand-stitched around the button holes to keep those secure though (I don't know how to do those fancy things on my sewing machine).
