snuggly, chunky, ribbed fingerless mitts *pic chunky* with pattern

The HH lacy mitts were one of the first thing I crocheted but it would appear the *only* yarn one can get in the UK is double knit.  So I heavily modified the pattern so I could make gloves that fit rather than the huge things I made with the lacy mitts pattern.

They use very little yarn and make up really quickly so I'll be making more in more colours.

I also think I'll be crocheting some flowers to sew to the backs to pretty them up.

It took a fair bit of trial and error to get them right and I'm really happy with how they turned out.

4.5mm hook

Row 1:  single crochet in back loop of second stitch from hook, continue sc in back loop for 29 stitches (30) turn (I didn’t put in a turning ch ain to keep the edges less bulky, but you can if you like)
2:  sc in back loop 30 stiches turn
3: sc in back loop 20 stiches turn
4: sc in back loop 20 stitches turn
5: sc in back loop 30 stitches turn
Rep row 5 for next nine rows (row 6 to row 14)

Oooh, I'm loving these!

I started to try and make the gloves in the HH, but still being a bit of a trial and error learner I struggled from the get go.

These look comfortable and simple, I'd love the pattern to make Christmas gifts.

And I totally get your double knit in the UK woes, it's the only thing readily available and at a reasonable price.

Oh yes, Repentant Angel will be making these. I've nearly finished my second pair, pink this time.  Weirdly, even though both yarns were dk this pair is less chunky and I've put an extra two rows in the back of the hand bit.  dk seems to be rather variable!
