Just a thought. Putting it out there.

Back in the day the thing that brought me to craftster was searching and finding one of these swap forums. It was for a swap where the participants buy a thrift store purse and then mail it to their partner. Their partner then fancies it up to something awesome and sends it back.

I have also seen this done with thrift store art.

But what if we did this as some kind of stash busting exercise. I know we all have things we have carried with us through the crafting years that we know has potential, but we just haven't found that potential yet.

Something alone the lines of filling up a us priority box or something, and sending it, and your partner must create awesomeness from what is inside, and then send it back to their partner

Other rules or things might apply...for example maybe your partner can request at least one item (for example a knitter can ask that her package receives yarn to work with).

I was also part of those scavenger hunt swaps from a while back...we could introduce some scavenger hunt elements to it if we wanted.

What do you guys think?

Hmmm...  This sounds like it could be fun!  Would participants have to use every item in the box in an item they send back or could they return some items unused?

I like this swap idea!
I think using up everything is maybe not always possible. It might be better to be able so sacrifice some ideas if another idea you've has is very good but time consuming. Or maybe the swap partners can settle these details individually.

Well...the way I see it this swap would be almost like a "game" with rules and what have you. Maybe you don't have to use everything in the box BUT you only get X many "send back" items and your partner can define X many "must use" items.

I figure it would be a longer swap because that kind of mailing and creativity would take a while.

And I guess the size of the box would for sure depend on what a person was sending (a priority box full of beads, for example, is just silly. But full of fabric might not be enough).  So maybe in stead of a size there should be an item count requirement or at least a "more than" requirement.

And this would be more fun with more people to match up "junk" and tallents.

Yes yeeessss mwahahaha!

i love personal swaps. i'm looking to swap my art or paper crafts for some re-usable fabric snack bags, fabric sandwich wraps, fabric paper towels, glass pendants, ephemera, or art books.
