Oh, and as to where I get the vintage stuff...my family throws nothing away. The photos are of my mom's high school friends. The funny thing about Melba is that my maternal grandmother's name was Melba, but not THAT Melba. It must have been a popular StL name or something.

The papers belonged to my step-great-grandfather or something like that.

And watch out for that rusty hunk of tin. That's probably not something you want to cut yourself with.  Roll Eyes

My photos have a somewhat sadder story. I got a whole album 1947-1963ish at a yard sale, $1. The fact that nobody in the fanily wanted them made me sad. But we will make art with them!

That cotton tally book? all the pages that are written on appear to be horses in races Wink That sorta made me giggle, I think it might have been someones secret betting book.

I got a really fun box of goodies today from Jenicat! Check out my loot!

In the picture you can see:
Photographs: calendar of butterfly photos
Whimsical: a paisley stamp (I will be using this often!)
Label: an envelope of dymo labels. Jenicat printed out several fun words like "whimsy", "dream" and "giggle"
Postal: some great old stamps
Transportation: Peruvian bus tickets
Vintage: some vintage British bus tickets. I really love tickets. Really.
Botanical: flower drawings
Over 20: Bingo cards (each has over 20 numbers on them)
Local: A coaster from Dogfish Head from a local restaurant. I don't know if you know this, Jenicat, but I collect different coasters like this, so I was pretty excited about this one!
Sharp: Loteria cards, each has something sharp on it: a scorpion, a cactus, a flagpole and some arrows. Clever girl, Jenicat!
Sender's Choice: a great book on clocks and watches. I opened it to one of my favorite pages. What cool old photos!

In this pic, you will find:
Typography: pages from Love's Labor Lost
Found: pages from a found copy of Eloise in Moscow
Chunky: some handmade paper Jenicat found with chunky bits in it

And last, but most certainly not least,

Altered: this beautiful chunky book page made with leaves from Jenicat's backyard.

What a great swap. Thanks so much for all the fun new ephemera, Jenicat!

Yep, that Chihuly glass picture was taken at the Bellagio's in LV Cheesy

Ah, well, you'll see why I asked when you get your package. Wink

OMG!  I can't believe we're both fascinated by Chihuly's work Cheesy

But I digress!  Ahem.  What I really wanted to say, is that I've received an awesome swap package from my partner, AshpaltQueen this evening *squee*  I absolutely adore everything that she sent, and she did a terrific job finding stuff that was unique and perfect for me!  Of course, I could go on, and on about how wonderfully neat the items are, but you folks would rather see pictures, no? Wink

First up, AQ made a bunch of fabulous tags for the items she sent.  I am horrible at guessing games, and AQ had some really creative ways of interpreting each category, so the tags were a lifesaver!

Items #1 thru #3

1.  Chunky - Index Tabs for Chunky Pages  I've been wanting to try my hand at creating some chunky pages, so this is perfecto!!
2.  Over 20 - Over twenty sheets of non-English text!  AQ made sure to include some Chinese and French text because that's what I like Cheesy
3.  Typography - Pow! Blam! Wooden cutouts  This made me Grin  I've been wanting to do a superhero theme craft for the boy, so this would be a good starting point!

Items #4 thru #6

4.  Botanical - Quilled flower on a cut branch  This is too precious!  The flower is perfectly quilled...and this item gets top marks for being a perfect match for the 'botanical theme'!  I love this!
5.  Postal - Postage stamps  Some really cool postage stamps from Indonesia and Japan!!
6.  Photograph - Original by AQ "Solitude" Grand Canyon  Along with the framed print, AQ also sent a bunch of other pictures Smiley  I love this print, and I intend to have it on my office desk!  The rest of the pictures are awesome too!  You're a wonderful photographer AQ Cheesy

Items #7 thru #9

7.  Label - Box of vintage labels - Too cool!  I'm not sure if I can bear to use them Smiley
8.  Whimsical - Door pull  LOL...I have no plans for this one, but it makes me happy Cheesy
9.  Found - Glass embellishments found at a wedding on the guest table  Totally creative.  I would never have figured to find stuff at a wedding Wink

Items #10 thru #12

10.  Local - Watercolour bookmark by local artist  So pretty!
11.  Sharp - "Sharply" dressed child couple Prince William of Orange and Mary Stuart certainly look sharp!
12.  Vintage - Pre-1960 fortune telling birthday book  AQ, wherever do you find these things?  This was a riot!  I couldn't resist checking out the fortunes for my friends and family when I saw the book Cheesy

Items #13 thru #15

13.  Transportation - Vintage cardboard train  This is too frickin' cute!
14.  Altered - Elephant poo greeting card  Seriously, this one takes the cake!
15.  Sender's Choice - 7 Gypsies tags  These tags are so fun!  I can't wait to figure to play with them Smiley

A couple of stowaway items that were found in the box Wink

Thanks AsphaltQueen...for taking the time to send me such a wonderful swap package  Kiss

And a big round of applause to Penlowe for hooking me up with such a lovely swap partner, and for organizing this swap Cheesy
