So we had to make a lamp for class using a recylced material...for some crazy reason, i chose to use pop tabs. It took forever, but here it is! I call it the tree hugger:

I used close to 500 tabs...and it took many many nights to do. They are woven with ribbon and wire to keep the shape. I listened to the entire Uglies Series by Scott Westerfeld on audiobook while making it. I'm happy with it, but also glad it's done!

Your reason may have been crazy or not, but the result is awesome. I'm sure that it took quite a while to make, but I'm also sure that it was worth it. What a great way to recycle!

Dear Craftster Friends,
Three years ago, I was much younger and dumber and I flaked on a few swaps. I am back and I promise to make it up to everyone I hurt. I had been flaked on a couple of times, and I know how cra**y it feels. I am really sorry.

This is very well done! I like the individual tabs as leaves. And the cord looks kind of like a big root...

Wow, thank you guys so much for all of the nice comments!

To the person who asked how I did it, I sort of made it up as a went along, but for the most part I made rings of pap tabs using the method people use to make pop tab belts and bracelets, and then stacked those rings together and used wire to weave one ring to another. For the branches I did the same thing, only on a smaller scale.

Cloud: Actaully, it doesn't. I used a compact florescent bulb eqivalent to 15 watts and it doesnt get hot at all!

Also, to the person who asked how tall it is, it's about 15 inches.
