This is the very first quilt I have ever made.  It just kept getting larger and larger as I added more borders, but I am happy with it.  It was a present for a friend of mine who is going through a really rough time, I wanted to give him something warm and loving without it being TOO mushy and lovey   Smiley  I was happy with the pattern, it ended up fairly masculine looking.

Very nice!  Nothing says comfort like something you can wrap yourself in...  I really like the center stripes especially, and I'd be interested in knowing how you quilted it.  Stitch in the ditch?

I did 'stitch in the ditch' for the center.  I ran out of time and the borders are tufted.  Actually the contrast of textures looked nice.

It is when you do the quilting together of the front, batting and back along the seam lines of the front.  So where the blue strips are seamed together is the same place I (machine) quilted the blanket together.

Love your quilt! And that was your first? Wow. You should consider making some to sell.

I really like this quilt.  I love the graphic quality!

Again, I'm enjoying how the quilters on this forum combine traditional with contemporary sensibilites. The center area is very Amish (upstate NY Amish particularly favor spicy blues) and the border says "racing flag" to me. Very nice!

I think the center area is called "Jacob's Coat" but I could be wrong about that.  Anyone know?

Thank you for the compliments!  I really wanted to do something that felt traditional, but wasn't.  Haha, does that make sense at all?  I was thinking sort of the reverse of an amish quilt, small squares on the outside instead of the inside and more linear inside rather than outside.
