i'm home from my trip and itching to get started on houses!!

My backs are plainly decorated  Sad

That's fine! As long as they look finished and are not white and blank and boring, you are OK. My backs have the same background as the fronts, and then just a very tiny bit of decoration.

Hmm, mine are either decorated on the backs or not.  It kinda depended on the theme.  I was a bit hestitant on adding too much stuff.
