Me and my man were invited to a full on Halloween wedding this year, and I thought it was a great excuse to go all out on the costumes.
Recently I've been inspired by the whole steampunk thing.  It was so much fun to draw, I decided it might be equally fun to make.  I didn't want to do the typical fancy lady full skirt thing either.  I'm not quite sure what I am, but I think I'm some sort of air pirate.  Hence the aviator pin and the big knife.

It's a combination of things I had, things I bought, and things that were made.  the skirt, hat, pants and spats are all custom made.  The dreads a lovley ladey on Etsy made me a few halloweens ago.  A friend of mine with far more sewing skills than I helped me make the sewn parts.  Here's the original concept sketch.  yes, I sketched this FIRST. She's just that good at sewing.

I'm also quite pleased with how the aviator pins turned out.  I made one for both of us.  It's basically just watch parts, charms from Michael's, and lots of hot glue.

His costume was more thrift store and modifications.  We got his vest/shirt/pants at a thrift store, I made the belt/buckle harnesses, and I modified his hat with a new band, buckles, and a handmade set of goggles.  The jacket is from a Van  Helsing costume. His spats were also handmade.  Here's me and him at the wedding.  Sorry it's a bit dark.  We won the costume contest for most original costumes!

Here's a closeup of his gun, which is part of the cross holster he's wearing.  The gun I got at target and gave it a custom paint job, to make it look all coppery and dirty and steampunk-y.

I too have a bit of a thing for Steampunk lately.  Those costumes are truely awesome.  I wonder how a air-pirate and gentleman adventurer (that's my guess on your fellas persona based on the costume) got together in the first place.  Could be an interesting back story there.
