For our Halloween party at the barn, I decided to make myself and my horse a costume, so we're Harlequins!  Untraditionally, of course, because I'm all about going against tradition.  My costume was made from Simplicity #2777.  The top is a Halloween cotton print, the bloomers are snuggle flannel, both fabrics from Joanns.

For Cat, my horse, I used the striped fabric to make a pillowcase, and stuffed one her saddle pads inside so it would be comfy for her.  She also got a "tie" from the same fabric.

I made very short polo wraps out of the flannel print, but they do have velcro so they stay on.  We didn't win the costume contest and we probably won't win this one, but I bet no one else posting here made an outfit for their horse!!

That's great!  I bet you will be the only entry for a horse.  I like that your horse is named Cat; I knew a cat named Monkey once.

I love the top!

I'm currently working on this pattern too for an SCA event, and I'm stuck. Can you tell me what you did on the sleeve? Either I can't do math, or I'm missing the page on how to do them. Any guidance would be MUCH appreciated Smiley

My mom pinned it together for me, so I'm not sure what I can tell you except it sort of came together like a triangle.  For the hem I just turned it and sewed it like a normal round hem even though it ends up pointy.
