I'm sort of tall and people tend to think I'm taller than I am for some reason (even people who don't see me in heels much) AND there's a comic book giantess with my name (at least the spelling, maybe not the pronunciation) which I think is neato.  So, I came upon this classic poster for another giantess and knew that had to be my Halloween costume even before last Halloween.

I spent time from spring on looking for materials on-the-cheap. I used Simplicity pattern 2790 as a start, but changed the dress quite a bit by making it form-fitting, adding a zipper to accomplish that, changing the neckline and doing the hem differently.  Obviously mine is not an exact replica of this movie or of the remake from the 80s, but rather my interpretation.  I also added an airplane up on my head which you can kind of see in that picture.

I winged it on the boot covers ($5 platform boots for the thrift store that make me about 6'1") and papier mached and painted over Styrofoam for the buildings (which inspired me to suggest this challenge: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=274335.msg3101077#msg3101077).

Here's a little car wristlet-style bag I made.

There's a zipper at the top and I could fit my ID, cash, phone and lipstick in there comfortably.  The headlight beam is the wrist loop.

Here I am with The ManFlesh.  I also made his costume and had a hard time deciding which one to enter.  I did post his separately in the non-challenge area: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=276742.0

We one 3rd (him) and 1st  (me)place in a costume contest at a party last weekend!  It was my first trophy ever!

Oops!  I forgot that I have one (lame-ish) in-progress shot.

Always the "helper".

You look so awesome!  I can't believe all the detail that went into that  - I love all the little miniatures around you!  So cool, you totally deserved to win!

Aw, thanks! I was lucky, I think, that the host and hostess of the party (a fellow craftster) are big fans of old B-movies.

Thank you! I had no idea you were, either, but I can't believe I didn't assume after seeing your awesome costume!

I need to say something else about the party I mentioned.  The ManFlesh and I agreed that it easily had the most really good costumes of any Halloween party either of us had been to.  I can't remember seeing any lame-o ones there!

Why, thank you!  Boy, wouldn't it have been fun to have a group of giant creatures, though!  Godzilla, King Kong, Jolly Green Giant, the Stay Puff Marshmallow guy...

This is so original! I love every bit of it. It was a really good idea to make the car into a wristlet! Your pose is great too.
