I finally finished my first ever clothing piece last night (aside from my Halloween costume, which doesn't really count.)  I had a small scare that it wouldn't fit me, but in the end it's a biiiit too big (I'm really small-chested and most patterns do not accommodate this  Sad).  I also didn't follow the pattern for the zipper because I didn't understand the instructions, but honestly, I don't think I'll wear this dress anyway.  I'll probably end up making another and try to avoid any mistake I made with this one.

But, I'm still quite proud of it!!  Here's some pics, let me know what you think!

Thanks! Cheesy  I made a few more adjustments this morning (like following the zipper directions) and it fits much better now.
I hope this is the start of lots and lots of clothes made by me to come!

Oh, and if anyone is interested, I used Simplicity Pattern 2884.

That dress is absolutely gorgeous and looks so cute on you, too!  You should totally wear it!  Did you piece the different fabrics together?

The fabric I used was already striped like that, with the different festive patterns.  I really like it, but my boyfriend thinks it looks like a tablecloth...

I don't have a Joann's here in Canada, but maybe they ship here.  I'll have to check it out, thanks!

this dress looks amazing on you, especially with your hair
(redheads unite!)
and it does NOT look like a tablecloth, it looks like something someone would buy in a store....and awesome store!

Whatever, when your boyfriend makes a dress nicer than that, then he can talk!

Zippers are a pain the first few times you try, so good for you for sticking with it and figuring it out! Cheesy The dress is adorable, and not so overly Christmassy that you couldn't wear it in the summer too! Great first sewing job!
