Unfortunately, I had neither the resources or time to build my own dirigible... But hopefully the steampunk aspect of my pirate costume came across?

Things I Did Not Make:
-Hat with Feather
-Jack the Raven
-Nylons
-Boots

Things I DID Make:
-steampunk goggles
(somewhat based on this tutorial: http://www.brassgoggles.co.uk/brassgoggles/steampunk-resources/how-to-quick-costume-goggles with addition of craft foam and subtraction of masking tape, also craft paint details, and spray painted buckle for strap, colored lenses with sharpie)
-earrings & necklace
-hair do-dads with real raven feathers
(from the collection that I scavenged and cleaned myself)
-blouse (simplicity 3677)
-corset (drafted using Custom Corset Pattern Generator: http://www.elizabethancostume.net/custompat/index.html)
-steampunk cuff (craft foam, spray paint, lace hem tape, craft paint, velcro)
-bustle/skirt (Simplicity 2851)
-pants (Simplicity 3677)
-steampunk anklet (craft foam, spray paint, craft paint, elastic)
-steampunk collar for Jack the Raven (craft foam, spray paint, craft paint, velcro)
-belt, garter and holster for pistol (original design in black suedecloth-same as used for pants-with brass grommets, purchased buckle, lace painted red-also used to trim corset)
-pistol (cardboard, masking tape, spray paint, craft paint)

(Pic from Halloween. My friend's costume was her first major sewing project, which I helped her do, as well as making my own. I think it turned out great!)

Thanks for the comments, guys!

For those of you unfamiliar with the Steampunk genre, there is a decent entry on wikipedia here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steampunk

heya! i'm making costumes for a pirate themed burlesque show and i joined crafster just so i could tell you that your steampunk pirate totally inspired me. i am making 3 removable red bustle skirts from thrifted bridesmaid dresses, with breetches/bloomers underneath. thanks!!
