28 and life to go

I just assembled my husband's Joker costume from different thrift store finds, but I printed out joker cards and laminated them for him to hand out.  Then I put the "creepy skin" putty as scars and we painted over that for his scary face.  We sprayed white hair spray and then rubbed green facepaint in his hair that he's been growing out for months for this.  I cut up an orange shirt for my son's costume and sewed a yellow R and some yellow ribbon for his Robin vest.  I also sewed a satin yellow cape, made a darling gold belt (with yellow crayons instead of golden bullets), and cut little fingerless gloves for him, but of course he refused to wear any of that.  For my Harley Quinn costume I just bought two each of red and black shirts and leggings, then cut them in half and sewed the opposite sides together.  I used the leftover legs to make my hood (along with some homemade pom-poms and half a wire coathanger) and the leftover arms to cut out diamonds (although I was running late for the party and had to have my mom finish sewing them on which is why they aren't in the exact right spots).  I took one each of a pair of black and red Chuck Taylors and leather gloves that I had, a goofy pair of sunglasses, a dollar store ray gun decorated with a Sharpie, and an old hankie with a hole cut in the middle.  I sewed up scraps of long silk for the cuffs.  My brother-in-law went as Batman and my friend went as Catwoman.  Fun!
