so i dressed up as joan holloway from mad men for halloween last night.  if you don't know who that is, she's the bombshell secretary, and you should check out the show because its some of the finest writing and costumes i've seen in a long time.

I made the dress from a wool remnant i had laying around.  its on bias in the front with a mock wrap and then there's a zipper up the back.  its got little kimono sleeves as many dresses back then did, which is a construction detail that i just adore.  i also bought myself  redhead wig and styled it into the updo.  there's so much aquanet in that wig that i didn't need a helmet!

i rode the whole costume in chicago's critical mass last night.  so i made the skirt a little shorter than i would have had it for just a basic costume since i ended up riding like 30 miles.  when i got to parties i ditched the flats and busted out some black pumps. oh and i had on some pantyhose so it wasn't like i was trying to show off too much skin!

Your costume looks amazing!  The wig is perfect!
(Also, as a total bike dork, I must say that seeing your beautifully colored bike in every picture is fabulous.)
: )
Again, awesome!
