Here's my daughter's "Space Girl" costume from this year.  She's 5.

We didn't get pictures in the dark, but the costume has clear plastic things around the bottom of the skirt and on the shoulders to hold glow sticks.  She also got glow bracelets and a "space gun" with lights and noise.

The second one shows the helmet.  We also put glow sticks in the top as antenna.

This costume is fantastic!! How did you do the helmet? was it store bought or did you make it?

Thanks!!

A bit of both.  The helmet was a light fixture that we bought and modified.  It started its life as a clear plastic globe designed to go on an outdoor light.  We cut out a hole for the face (also necessary because the opening was too small to go over her head.  We drilled some holes.  I sewed the hood part and attached it to the plastic helmet with button thread.

The antenna were so cool.  I wish we had a picture.

It was from a pattern.  Simplicity 2796.  I did a few modifications.  I was originally planning a couple of other modifications, but the 5 year old wouldn't stand for it!!
